Human Vanity?

I read that in connection to me today.  I can't deny the fact that I suffer from vanity.  I think we all do to a certain degree.  But, I hate that this is where the awareness usually ends.  As if ALL we are is a mass of human vanity and ego.

I think we are all so much more complicated than that.  Complicated in that there is an underlying reason in all of us for the vanity. The vanity itself is a clue to what motivates us all.  I don't think it is an easy catch-all phrase.  I think the motivations are different for all of us, and to varying degrees.

Why is I think this?  Because I need to believe it is more complicated that sheer vanity and ego.
