Maroon 5
OK, you know how I said, I recently had the desire to listen to music back, right? Well, I found this band. Maroon 5. And I guess they have been around for a long time, but I sure never heard of them [Sorry guys].
Well, my brother-in-law was over fixing something for me, and we got to talking, and he said, "oh you should listen to some Maroon 5."
I said, "OK" and went to search for their music, but he said, know you have at least their first CD on the external HD in your office. He said he knew he given me some a long time ago.
Sure as the sun coming up, this band was already in my music collection and I had never listened to them [again, sorry guys].
So, I did.
OMG!!!!
So far, my favorite is.... [see video], but the band is an interesting combination of pop and rock, with some really interesting and creative choices lyrically. I've decided to be a fan.

Waking up...
This is going to sound really strange, but recently it's almost like I've been asleep for a few years and suddenly I woke up. I mean literally, just woke up.
I've begun to write again. I am listening to music again, and this is a big deal. I am/was an audiophile, and collected music, but for the last few years, I hardly ever listened to any at all. Now, I'm searching for music, making new playlists, enjoying the feelings music has always given me. Enjoying the FEELINGS!!! I feel the music again. I feel me again. *sigh* I thought I was dead for so long.
And, even bigger news, my sex drive has returned. It's like an old friend that was gone for so long and finally decided to come back home. I feel my own desire again.
I have no clue what was wrong with me. It didn't seem like I was depressed or anything. I just felt all the desires for pleasure had gone out. I was still happy a lot of the time, I just didn't want to feel the intense emotions. It seemed fine doing that. It almost seemed normal to be honest. I thought, well, I thought I was just done with it all, ya know.
But now, well, life seems so wonderful. It's just so wonder to feel things again. I mean things that make you swoon. Like a good song, or a handsome man that passes you on the street and makes you want to be "a dumb blond, a centerfold, the girl next door" [as the song goes... ]
Maybe I will actually have a second act in life. Just maybe!

The Twilight Saga
OK, so I've been sick, and the Twilight Movies were on all
weekend. I watched them because well, it was the only thing on that
wasn't a re-run for me or simply unacceptable in my fevered state. I'd
never seen any of them, so I decided what the hell, I've got no place to be
anytime soon.
What's that you say? You can't believe I've never seen any
of the movies. Well, no, I haven't. I'm all grown up and usually don't watch
teenage angst movies even if they are all about vampires and such. I'm a
grownup.
I liked the Series. I'm not sure I'd ever be in the OMG, Edward and Bella, I can't wait to see what happens territory. Remember, I am a grown up. I survived being a teenager and I'm not so old I don't remember I BARELY survived it. But, I can see what the fuss was about.
I liked the Twilight Universe a lot. I liked the whole Cullen clan. I loved the traditions and oral traditions of the werewolves. The Universe is really rich with possibilities for storytelling, so it made the movies more appealing right off the bat.
I did not like Bella so much, although the actress played "quirky teenager" really well. The one thing I did like is that I believed she was a misfit in her own world. But, I'm not sure I think that Bella is all that tbh. I do however see why Edward was so taken with her. In a world filled with no surprises at all [given his gift], she must have been a constant source of delight and surprise [besides all the puffed up raging hormones etc.]
I think I liked "New Moon" the best, but it should have shown us more of what Edward was doing during the separation imo. I know the tale is told primarily from Bella's POV, but I would have been more interested in a story that showed more of the Cullens and Edward in New Moon. That said, I know New Moon is about Bella and Jacob, but I've got my opinions and that's that. Bella's angst needed to be broken up a bit more imo.
I know the absence of Edward from the screen was a device to make the audience feel the separation along with her, but as I said, I'm all grown up, and I still remember how painful a separation at that age can be. You want to die, blah blah blah. I know it is real, but give us old ones a break, like I said, we barely survived our own Edward in our own real life, and we didn't need to be sold on Bella's pain. We remember.
The scenes with the Volturi in "New Moon" and all the back info about them was fascinating. And again with "Breaking Dawn Parts I & II", it's the Volturi that sold it for me.
So, there you go, I revisited by hormone saturated youth and felt the pain and loss of that period, so I was happy the young lovers finally married and well, will live happily ever after. I was a nice weekend watching poor Bella decide between Edward and Jacob, only there never was any real question was there?
You see, I do remember. Once bitten [yes pun intended], you can't be swayed from your path to "true love", you can only be comforted along the way. And here is where I think the whole series does hit the mark. Using the intensity and passion of the Vampire world to tell this kind of young love story hits the mark emotionally. There is no time in our lives when the passion is as strong, and the danger is as great. We love so intensely, we do want to die when that love is denied.
So, I vote a thumbs up on the entire series, if only to resurrect all those feelings of love lost from your own memories. Yes, we all felt like Bella over someone.

Happy New Year!
So far, it's been great. I have a tooth that needs to be pulled. It was aching so bad it made me cry. Then it abscessed. Then of course, it couldn't be pulled until the infection was gone. Then I got heart burn, from taking the antibiotics, as painful as a heart attack [OK that is an exaggeration, but it hurt like hell]. I cannot swallow any of the soft food I'm eating. Now I have the flu.
:(
Happy New Year everyone!
